Audi launched its R8 road car in
2007, named after the successful Audi R8 race car. Following the success of the
V8 R8, there was something missing from the R8 which could further unleash the
car’s full potential. Now, we have the Audi R8 V10, which has concluded the
missing elements from the V8 R8 and displays true potential of an exotic.
The Audi R8 is powered by a 5.2
litre FSI V10 engine, based on the unit in the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4,
producing out 525 hp and generates 530 nm of torque. The R8 V10 can rocket from
0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds on its way to a top speed of 315 km/h.
But despite being down a bit
on grunt, the R8 V10 can still rocket from zero to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds, on
its way to a top speed of 196 mph.
Even though the power and the
engine specs differ from these breeds, the visual differences are not many. Nevertheless,
some changes from the V8 R8 is, dual elliptical exhaust outlets, bigger side
air intakes, a revised front and rear fascias and larger brakes. The V10
version also has unique LED headlights.
What makes the Audi R8 V10 the
beast?
A 5.2 litre FSI V10 engine
with 525 horse power, more aggressive body styling, larger rear brakes and
unique road wheels.
Rivals: the dazzling Porsche
911 Turbo S,
Aston Martin V12 Vantage and the F1-inspired Ferrari 458 Italia.
